Yes, you certainly do have problems. I hope you realized what you were signing when you co-signed that loan. They can and will garnish your SS check. They can and will take any tax refunds you might be due. The loan cannot be discharged in Bankruptcy in most circumstances. I would suggest that you contact an attorney to help you with this. You may qualify for a low cost or pro bono attorney. Contact your local BAR association to locate one.

Maybe they simply have the wrong number. Perhaps if you spoke to them, you might get the matter resolved. This is a student loan company, not a telemarketer, trying to collect a debt, so the do not call list doesn't apply.

Hmmm ... I have no student loans, this is a private business number on the DO NOT CALL list, why are they breaking the law and getting away with it???? I wish I could find these people and call them on their personal number and bug them and ask stupid questions.

Tarkington is correct. Federal companies such as this one do not apply to the 'do not call list' that is simply for solicitation companies only. This is a federally funded student loan servicing company, they simply have numbers attached to accounts per the account holder giving them said number. It's very possible they have the wrong number or are trying to reach someone you may know. They remove wrong numbers from accounts when informed it is wrong, but not until so. I would just simply let them know.
