They called my job and left message. Some female who sounded like she had a mouth full of cotton talking fast. All I could make out was United Courier, a docket number and something about an arbitrator. She stated I'd been officially notified. I slowed the message down to a crawl and couldn't make out the number she left, but it started with 844. It showed as unknown. SMH at these silly folks.

I just had two calls from 'Unavailable', so I looked up the name - I always do - because I thought I remembered scams like this. I ignored the first call, but we were trying to sleep and when the second call started ringing a few seconds later, I answered because I had to cancel a job interview yesterday & thought it might be the firm calling to reschedule. Instead, I got a guy asking for a mispronunciation of my legal first name = usually a clue, but not always. I asked who was calling & got 'Mike from United Couriers', and then he said my mispronounced legal first name + my maiden name, which I haven't used at all in seven years, certainly not since I've had this cell phone. I wouldn't be giving it out, so that's a puzzle. I said no one here by that name - perfectly true - and the guy started to go 'Ohhhkay, then why did you...' and I hung up & turned of the phone. The only reason I hesitated at all was that I once applied for actual courier jobs, but again, not with this phone number. So I strongly suspect a scammer, and I am equally suspicious, since I recently added the # for 'security' to an existing email account, that they either sell the data or that there are hacker/phishers out there picking that stuff up. I like to try to get information because just ignoring them doesn't make them stop; I figure they have to catch a few & get money from them or it would not be worth their while, so I always endeavor to make sure they're at least chased by cybercrime units. That's gonna be the only way to stop this kind of nonsense in the fullness of time, so I encourage people, save these numbers & incidents and report them by any means possible. I work as a freelance paralegal, and the biggest county I work for has a cybercrime unit & has sent detectives to interview victims in different states; they have caught & prosecuted a fair number by now.

This call came from 214-254-4323, said he was from Arbritration Officer and needed to reach my daughter. She owed money to a Cash Store, would not tell me anything first, wanted to know how to reach her. She is on disability and had some checks stolen. Now, someone wrote a check on her for $975.00 and they threatened to put a warrant for her arrest and will arrest her. Finally found out his name, John Hardy, for United Couriers.

I got a voice mail today from an Alan from United Delivery Service saying they have a paperwork delivery for me and I need to be home Monday between 12-4pm. The number is 972 793-0776. When calling that number it goes to a voicemail. I called the real United Delivery Service and was informed they have been getting many calls, but it is not their company calling. Anyone have an update?

I don't agree with not reporting them; that just encourages more powerless feelings. Report them; there are ever-increasing numbers of Internet and cellphone crime reporting networks, and I know for a fact that the county I do legal transcription & research for has a cyber-crime unit. They are making an effort - they *have* to - and the only way to get action *is* to keep reporting to the point where law enforcement units are overwhelmed and they will at least pick a couple of cases to pursue. If even 1-2 criminals a month are pursued, it helps discourage that sort of scam; in certain cases, as with one I cited earlier in another reply, they'll get clumsy or desperate, leave a vague threatening message, and get themselves caught. Do not sit back & do nothing & feel & act helpless. You may not get a direct resolution today for *you*, but you will add to the critical mass that makes it necessary for authorities to pursue [***] like this, and contribute to making it not worth their while.

I got the same deal saying that it is a united courier. I done block his number.

This # belongs to LGR out of Texas. They are bounty hunters. They continue to call my daughter's phone asking for someone who has skipped bail stating they were given her # as an emergency contact for a 45 year old convicted felon with multiple warrants. UM, NO THEY HAVE THE WRONG #! And yet they continue to call and harass my daughter. IDIOTS!

Got a voice-mail left from this number 469-919-5222 stating his name was Jessie and he had paperwork for me that was going to be delivered on Wednesday to my address & or my job. He gave addresses of both. He needed to confirm I would be there to receive and have my drivers license as proof that it was me because family members could not accept for me. He needed me to call him back. Left his number.First, the obvious, why is he calling if he has all this alleged info, addresses etc.Second, I needed to prove it was me? He sure sounded like he was talking to me by addressing me by name, and then giving out information, addresses, etc, which, is illegal to discuss anything on the phone like that, let alone leave it on a voice-mail.Ok, having said that It sounded like I was being served. Only thing is.....only sheriffs in your local township can serve, no courier services serve you, they deliver paperwork, or things you ordered. legally they are like the paperboy...they just hand stuff to you. And oh, by the way sheriffs never call you, they prefer the element of surprise, and anyone in your house can sign if they are over a certain age, it proves delivery. I work for the sheriffs office in my county, so I know this is FACT!. Obviously Mr Jessie SCAM ARTIST might want to check his information out before he contacts people.I would be great if someone showed up at my house or job. But, I know that's not likely. Best thing to do with these calls is ignore them. Got a call yesterday from a company from United Delivery Service but came up showing as Hewitt Capital. She said she had a delivery that needed to be delivered today between 12:00 & 4:00 today. She said they were just a delivery service & she connected me to a guy named Nick from Hewitt Capital. He argued that I owe money to a pay day loan. He said they sent me a letter back in July but I never received anything. Said when I received the papers I needed to take them to a lawyer immediately. The phone was 972-793-0759 from Irving Texas. Has anyone else got a call from them.

Same call saying he was a from united courier wanting to deliver a pkg. I needed to sign for„ sounds fishy will not respond. Also named a specific day he needed to know when I would be home.

I've rec'd 2 calls on my cell phone & 1 on home number - first was from Jessie 469-919-5222 and then from Michael 469-919-5778 - they each left messages on my cell phone they were with United Courier Svc and on Monday, June 23rd between the hours of noon & 4 p.m. and sealed envelope was being delivered to my home address that required my signature - no one else could sign & take delivery. If I was not at home the papers would be delivered to my work address (which I haven't worked there in 1 year). My caller ID on cell showed 'Unknown Caller' but the home phone gave Hewitt Capital on the 5778 call. I did return the call to Michael (only because I was disconnected from Jessie's number after 2 rings)...they 'dispatched' me over to the 'Company' that hired them. While Nick @ Hewitt seemed more sincere that more collectors, I found a lot of holes in his story... They are collectors (Hewitt is) for Hydra Financial - payday loan place, that, yes I do know I still owe, but working on filing bankruptcy. I was told they 'mailed' me paperwork to try to settle but I've never rec'd anything from Hewitt in Buffalo NY and find it interesting that United Courier is in Dallas (per Michael)Has ANYONE been served with paperwork in 'a sealed envelope' by United Courier Service?

I just got a call from them as well. The number was 469.518.5035. He said his name was Carl, and he had a package that was to be delivered to me. I did not believe it, and he had the wrong address. Also, I had not lived at the address given for about a year, so I know I did not order anything from them. Said it was United Courier Service or UCS.

This guy keeps calling saying he works for United Courier and has a package to be delivered to my house and he says with my county seal on it.My county gas the sheriff deliver any legal Docs is this a scam?

Call the cops. This kind of harassment, especially to the wrong party, is illegal & needs to be stopped.I have found out that there are the idiots, and there are just the people who are unclued. Before I was married, living with my ex-boyfriend, we got hounded like three times a day for the people who'd evidently had the phone # before us. I finally took the time one day to talk to a woman who called - three people kept calling, 2 men & a woman, from the same # - and explained that we'd just moved in like a month before & been assigned this # by the phone company. Evidently this woman had lived in one home her whole life and then married and lived in that home her whole life as an adult, because she kept repeating that 'she'd never heard of that' - that a phone number sits for six months after it's been released and then is reissued to a new customer - and she out and out insisted to me that we *had* to be living in the same home the woman they were seeking had and we had knowledge of her and just weren't giving it to them. I explained it to her once again, got more of the same ignorance and got fed up and told her we were calling the police on them for harassment, hung up and did just that. I was able to explain their apparent motivation, again vouched that we had no idea who this woman was (the address didn't match up, obviously), and gave the police officer the name & number of the property manager to vouch that we were new residents, and I in fact had just moved into the state for the first time - the only woman at the address. The police called the #, I guess they were skip tracers and told them to knock it off or they would be cited. One guy, of course, smelled conspiracy, and called leaving a booming threatening message about 'consequences cannot be avoided - resolve this at once'. Called the case officer the next day, he came over, we played the tape for him - last I heard, he was off to arrest & charge the [***] and cite the business for a much more major charge of harassment because of the vague threat. Seemed to work, and we heard through the grapevine at the ex's work (because he had two collections people there) that we put them out of business for good and all. Moral of the lengthy story: pursue action against these sorts of people. I don't believe in desperate collections activity anyway, as there are too many people down on their luck in this country who took on debt in good faith they can no longer service.
