I received a call from Jordan (foreign accent) on 19 March 2021. He said he was from Openreach and BT had found a fault on my Router. He wanted me to sit at my computer while he checked things. I said, How do I know this isn't a scam. He gave me a telephone number to ring and check on him. The number he gave was 01793596931.After I put the phone down, I checked my Call List and the call came from 01354663941 I have not rung the numbers.
Caller claimed to be from BT, wanting to test speed of my broadband connection. Tried to establish himself as very friendly person at beginning of call. Caller talked fast and tried to move away from subject when I asked for number to call back on. Eventually gave this number. Caller still fast-talking when I said, That's all I need - thank you - goodbye and hung up.
Very much the same story as others only difference being the number they were calling from was in fact a mobile number 07788 167533. Worryingly and more concerning, they sent a 'verification' code to my mobile, and confirmed my email address!Following requests to further confirm they were in fact BT, I was given the phone number of 'BT Technical Services' - guess what, it was 0044 1793 596931.
