its a City and County number. so basicly its just a number that just shows up on caller I.D. when someone from City and County like the Zoo, HPD, or Blaisdell calls, but when you call back you get a 'the number you have reached is not in service'

Then I call it back and...'the number you have reached is not in service.'WTH!

missed called. When i called back, it's no longer in service. What the heck or who the heck is messing around?! jerk

I also too got the same number[(808) 768-0000] when I was screening it and got the same recording when I called it too.I wonder what is going on and has anyone got an update what this number is concerning or is all about?

808 768-0000 is a generic number that 'tags' calls from many Honolulu City & County agency outgoing calls.

My daughter answered a call from this number.. They told her is was HPD and needed to talk to me.. She gave them my cell # and they never called.. I returned the call and they said the service the Zoo the Blaisdell and somewhere else and the had no idea who called me... The lady said there is no one there from HPD.. I have no idea who this call was from or what they wanted...

Just got a call from the number and they asked for the name of Sarah, and when I said they had the wrong number, because I'm not Sarah, they hung up on me...no idea who it was..

A man called my son's phone from this number and asked to speak to his parent. When my son told him that I was busy and would call him back the man proceeded to tell my son 'I'll just come to your house then and then she'll answer the door.' My son then asked what this was regarding and was told 'It's none of your business.' When I finally got the phone from my son I asked who it was and he just ignored me. He said that he got my son's number from some woman and that I had used it to call her, he wouldn't give me her name. He also started asking about some girl, a 14 year old runaway. He never said who he was or his relationship to the girl. He was very rude and vague. In the end I never got his name or a legitimate number.

please go to this free government website www.donotcall.gov there you can list all your cellphone and land line numbers- they will send you an email with a link to complete the request- this needs to be done within 72 hrs. There is also a link to file a complaint. Don't let this continue for another minute.

There were two calls from this number at around 4 AM this morning, waking us up. We did not answer but tried calling back. 'The number you have reached is not in service.' Do not appreciate non-emergency calls in the middle of the night!

I have been receiving calls from this number too many times. It normally tries 3-4 times repeatedly in a day, two to three times per month. I tried to block it but the phone company charges $5 per month, so I just do not answer when I get calls from this number. Annoying though.
