American Voice was what showed on the caller i.d. Did not answer the phone for unknown caller, but research shows they are scammers. Felt duty to report

CID said 'SPAM? DALLAS TX' If it says 'SPAM' on the Caller ID, it probably is. Did not answer. Did not leave message. I think it's spam.

Truthfully, Social Security would never call you, they would either send you something in the mail or send an email . I think its a SCAM. I have call control on my phone, so it was blocked..

It was Social Security office reminding me of an appointment I have tomorrow, which I did have scheduled. Seems to be a valid phone call... for me at least.

Imply that they are Social Security, but it's a call for prescription drug coverage.

A caller who I suspect of being a fraudster and harasser based on an accumulation of circumstances. This person calls to tie in to a call that I am already on using the Call Forward function of my phone. They may be committing government benefits fraud (UE, SS, etc.). They are located in a part of the country where I have no connection and there is no reason to be calling. I have been a target of a gang or ring and this caller may be a participant.

Received several cslld from this number on my caller ID, no messages left, and when I called the number the recording said it was no a 'legitimate' number. 'American' something

This is a scam. I called Social Security and after a long hold was told that there is no appointment scheduled for me. They gave me my local Social Security office phone number and they said the same thing. I searched American Voice and there is nothing there. Other posts have said that they cannot call back to American Voice. How much proof is needed for everyone to understand that this is a scam.

Just rec'd this call. I ignore it on Caller ID and it went to Voice Mail. I listened to the VM and it was the same automated message as described above. I have no hearing with anybody scheduled. Perhaps they dialed my home telephone number by accident?

Hey! I'm so glad I'm not the only one who got this call telling us that we all have this so-called hearing for disability. I've been down with depression, so I was one of their 'suckers' and gave them my info. After the fact, I got scared. I hope they aren't ID thieves. I've documented what happened so if/when it happens, I'll know who and how it happened. I know it's a scam.

Call came at 11:14am on 7-26-07. In a rare instance, the wife picked up the phone on an unknown identity. But....it was from the Social Security Administration reminding her of an appointment the following day.

Claimed it was social security. I am pretty sure this was a fraud.

I got a call from this number 972-497-1400. It was Social security administration that called me and when I answered a recording reminded me of my interview for the next day.

SSA scam

Did not answer since I have never been to Texas and there are so many scams out there, but at least this 'American Voice' is just another con-caller. A real company, esp. one that worked for the real SSA would have a web site to that effect. The only web listings for A.V. are some organization for immigration reform. Plus, the real SSA never calls people like that and has said so in numerous public service ads.

I just got a call from Called Id said American voice 972-497-1400. pretty strange, I hung up the phone jumped online now I am here. I'm glad that there are places like this. You have to wonder WHY SSI says American Voice especially when there are so many people try to steal identities, My first thought was voice theft, I don't know if that is even possible, but it's sad that, that was my first thought. This person keeps calling me claiming to be a social security representative and sending me robotic appointment alerts I don't know anyone from Dallas Texas and I was told it was a scam but they keep contacting me.

I got a call from this number stating I had a hearing for disability in Shreveport La, They asked for my name, number, and ssn. I am on disability with the military, so I figured it was for that, so I submitted my info. I was kind of leary about it so I looked the number up and found this site. Does anyone have any advice?

I missed the first call early today but they called again this time I answer and kept quiet. The recording stated that the person with this phone number no name had an appointment at the Social Security Office. According to the recording the appointment will be held the following day Wednesday however, I live in Boston, MA nowhere near to Dallas, TX.

They called with a message that sounds like they are from the SSA. However, if you listen carefully they do not tell you to call back on their number, but the SSA number. Somehow, they have spoofed the SSA line that must have been a valid number at a previous time.

Social Security DisAbility hearing

just got the call today, reporting that I have a court hearing (which I don't). Pressed 2 because I didn't receive a notice and they asked me to leave my name and social security number. SOOOO. Scam most likely with a robo-dialer.

Did not know this # 972 497 1400. It's from Dallas, Texas, & I have never been there. I believe its a scam, since I live in Nevada. The main SSA office is in Woodlawn, Maryland, outside of Washington DC. I used to work there. Only use the SSA phone # from their website. Social Security Administration wants you to use their website. They would NOT call you !!!

States they sent me a letter concerning prescriptions via Social Security. The number they left was NOT the one I looked up on line which is the actual number to the social security office in Texas.. The number it came from was 972-497-1400. I'm on the no call registry. It doesn't appear to be working very well. Thanks.

There was never appt. Scheduled. When spoke to social security last month said I will get letter by mail of decision. This robo call came in two hours ago..I know social security doesnot call you.. Believe this was a scam..never get out your info to them...

I just received a call from this number this morning to remind me about my appointment with Social Security the next day. I had also got a call on my home number reminding me of a court date which was supposed to be cancelled.

This number 972-497-1400 IS a legit number. It called me this afternoon. It came up on my caller ID as American Voice. It called to remind me of my phone appointment with the Social Security Adminstration tomorrow, 2/5/2008 at 2:00 pm. It is just a courtesy call for me and courtesy call for them as well so if you have to change your phone appointment you can do so. They may use this number for other calls for the SSA as well, I do not know. I am sure they have called people in error, so don't panic. If you get a call in error, there may be a promt on the line to let them know they have the wrong number. (people may give them wrong information, hey it happens). There is nothing you can do if you have your name on the do not call registry as they are a government agency. Just be patient and you can resolve this, it't not like this particular number is going to hound you relentlesly like those whack jobs. Good luck people, you may need them one day :) Happy 2008 !!

Recv'd phone call on my cell phone of all things. I never hand out my cell phone, the darn thing costs too much to operate. Became angry that some idiot would enter my cell phone number to an automated long distance dialer to expunge my minutes so I hung up.Tried calling the number listed on my cell phone using a land line and no one answers. You get a recording that you probably misdialed, so hang up and try again. Not sure what I will do if it calls back.

Received a automated call from 972-497-1400 saying someone at this number had a SSA appointment the following date at 9:05 AM. Very weird, the caller ID said American Voice.

I got it too, but I wasn't home so it went straight to voice mail....it was to remind me of my hearing, however, it ended w/ to confirm that the notice of hearing was received press 1, if the notice of hearing was not reived press 2, to hear these options again press 3. they should really leave a call back number!!

my mom was asking me today if i had called anyone in the 972 area code on her cell phone because she got a call at around four am from the number 972-588-2218. That number called her about six times...and also called during the day but stopped all of a sudden. She said when she would answer all she would hear is a loud beep kinda sounded like a dial tone modem sound from a computer or something it was very strange. I called back private and got the same noise. It was very strange.

It is the service that is used by the Social Security Administration to remind people that they have an appointment the following day, or in two days. It is an automated service, and the only way to stop the call in the 24 hour period when you will be getting the calls, is to pick up the phone, and acknowledge that you have the appointment.
