claim to be british gas asking for money.. beware! never pay these con-men

I hung up as soon as she asked if she was speaking to me, however ~i did 50 quid on my British Gas electricity. I'd paid it online earlier.

More British gas nonsense - change provider!

Rang me 29th may 2015, said was British gas, asked for postcode for is. I refused, assume they wanted money!

Phoned again to say that we haven't paid British Gas for 2 years and they are a debt collector on behalf of British Gas. We pay monthly so there is no way we owe money. Con artists

Rang me for three days saying British gas asking me to pay my payment over the phone

Tried ringing me twice today,didn't answer but when I looked at the history of the number I've answered before and remember them not saying anything so I put the phone down.

I do beleive this is a Genuine British Gas Debt collector working on there behalf. but from foreign shores, using a Coventry U.K number. However as others on here have been saying do not make a payment directly to them over the phone and make payment at your convienance when funds are available. This may result in a late payment charge of £14ish, but as British Gas have told me they will never cut you off.
