I was called by this number at around 5.15 pm on my landline ( which btw is x- directory ! ) I was taking a call on my mobile at the time & didn't answer . The number is unknown to me . I would add that I paid my bill earlier this afternoon through BT' s secure payments system ! Could this have something to do with it ?? It's very worrying - glad I didn't answer !!

You are all so hilarious, so anal and control freakish, and you're all conspiracy theorists. The calls from 0800 169 1608 ARE from a division of BT. It's simple to avoid receiving calls from 0800 169 1608 - just pay your BT bills on time and don't cancel your direct debit without advising BT.

If this caller is BT,as this site says it is,they should be ashamed of themselves because it didn’t wait for me to pick up.Its very disconcerting for OAPs and something should be done about the security old people receive especially annonamous phone calls,it’s a disgrace.I receive 5/10 calls per week it’s a damn nuisance,and if it wasn’t for broadband I would gladly ditch my landline.

Yes it was Cash Converters. Some bloke asked Is that so and so? When I answered and knew my name, and then rang off. I definitely Recognised their voice from previous conversations I've had with Cash Converters over the phone, and this bloke knew my name.

This number rings and a recorded voice says they are from BT and is not a sales call. They need to speak to the account holder. If I am the account holder I am invited to press 1. If I have authorisation to act for the account holder I am invited to press 2. I press nothing and hang up. I get these calls daily.
