Well it is still going on. I got the same recorded message today asking for me to give them my homeowners insurance information. I went to the Wells Fargo web site and could not find the phone number they left. Then I did a search on the number and found the messages on this site. Glad I did. Thanks to all those that contributed.

If you have home owners insurance, then your insurance agent would have sent a binder to them. What you should do is contact your bank or mortgage holder and ask them if they called.. and that you where told you needed home owners insurance etc. Sometimes a binder will go astray, but then some company's do this repeatedly and the insurance agent sometimes need to send them certified mail. You should also then talk to your insurance agent if they didn't get one etc.

I received a letter about expired hazard insurance. I didn't call the number on the letter; I called Wells Fargo and they did say that my account had been notated as having expired hazard insurance. However, they contacted my insurance provider directly and were able to verify that my insurance had not expired. I am contacting the Wells Fargo insurance department to find out why my account changed in the first place.

Acted like they were from Wells Fargo and there was a problem with my home coverage, which there is not. Tried to get my personal info by directing me to mycoverageinfo.com. No ethics whatsoever.

Your first gut instinct was correct. This is not a scam. Whatever change happened to your policy, Wells Fargo is trying to reach you to get that information before they take out an insurance policy for you.Call the customer service number on your mortgage statement and ask if your insurance info is correct.

I wish these companies would adhere to the 'do not call' policy. I wish I could call them at mealtime at their homes.

They called me a bit ago. Did not leave a message. I called back out of curiosity. They claim to be 'the home mortgage insurance center' or some such. It sure sounds like a scam. If it wasn't a scam, then why don't they leave a message? Also, if it really was a legitimate problem with your homeowners insurance, and it's not a scam, they should already know your loan number.

I contacted Wells Fargo mortgage and they verified this number was them trying to get updated home insurance from me. I told them the message sounded like a scam. Suggest you contact Wells directly if you're worried.

Just got a call from them saying my condo insurance had expired and i need to upload new coverage information as per the terms of my mortgage agreement. Thank goodness I didn't have any info readily available to give to them.

I was surprised after reading all of this and the other websites that this was a real issue with Wells Fargo. It turns out they received information that I had a different condo unit number (in error) than what is on record. I called the number on my statement and they transferred me to 866-826-4884. They said they would take care of it. Recommendation: if you get a call from this number, call Wells Fargo on the number on your statement and ask them.

has anyone had any problems with their insurance or mortgage NOT responding to these calls?? I do not want to respond until I am sure they are legit, but fear something further happening...

Called a few times today. As usual, we don't answer and there's no message.

It is a scam. I called Wells Fargo and they have no record of calling me or needing any information about my homeowners insurance.

Got a call from this number the other day. They called 4 times and did not leave a voicemail. I finally answered one of their calls because my curiosity got the best of me. It was an automated recording claiming to be Wells Fargo saying that they didn't have my homeowner's insurance information on file. They gave me a PIN number and told me to visit www.mycoverageinfo.com and enter my PIN number and all of my insurance information when prompted. I thought it was strange since my insurance agent is usually on top of things, but we did just make a change to my policy so I just figured that I needed to update Wells Fargo with the recent changes that were made. So the next morning I gathered all of my insurance info and went online to this www.mycoverageinfo.com website to update my records. Immediately when I saw the website I thought it looked very generic and didn't appear to be associated with Wells Fargo at all. At this point, I was very concerned that this might be some sort of scam, so I went online and googled 'www.mycoverageinfo.com SCAM' and I found a Rip Off Report on it. It was indeed a scam! I'm so relieved I didn't enter any of my information. I was so close! Always be very careful about who you give your information to. Listen to your gut and if you think something seems strange, go with it! If these people contact you, call Wells Fargo to let them know. Be very aware -- those scammers are out there.
