Scam. Asked for personal details so I asked if I could call them back and they said 'what do you mean?' (I've never had that response to 'can I call you back?'). They then said that if i called back I would get someone else, But changed their mind when i said I would speak to anyone. I hung up
Called “on behalf of BT” wanting me to sign up for 18 months contract and save around £12 a month. Stupidly gave them my date of birth, Mothers maiden name and address and subsequently got told off by my 12 year old daughter!! When they put me through to payments dept I was cut off. Never heard back and never got an email confirmation of new package...
Persistant. They come twice a day at least. I don't answer them but on checking the number back I got a 'stock response, Automated answering machine' that indicated the call was from BT. This comes off the back of two weeks of another number calling to try to sell me 'heating/energy saving' for home-owners. A Harvest and Sell-on Scam.
Hi.. I was called from this number and was led to believe it was BT wanting me to switch my broadband. I actually complained to BT as the caller would not take no for an answer. BT denied all knowledge of the call and advised me to ignore it.
Nice chap rang at lunchtime claiming to be BT (so being ex-directory might not be such a red flag) wanted to discuss my package. I interrupted (he tried to protest) and said he could send it in writing, As BT never rings its customers. He was still gabbling when I hung up!
Sounded like a Scottish lady, Very polite. Said she was from BT, I said I wasn't interested as there were so many scam calls claiming to be BT, She said they were aware of the scam calls, I said could she write to me in future and not call, Of course she said. I have blocked the number.
Female with Northern English accent rang saying that she was ringing from BT and asking if I wanted to add mobile phone to my BT phone and broadband. She knew my name and wanted to find out how many people in the house had a mobile phone. From experience, It's very unusual to get unsolicited marketing calls from BT. They will try and talk things over the phone instead of giving a written response to a strong written complaint.
Dangerously plausible! Claimed to be BT offering a free upgrade. When I suggested to the caller that I did not accept the call as genuine, She said she understood as had certain information quoted the last four digits of my account number to prove it was genuine. But the call did not smell right! And when I continued with my scepticism she rang off. Be very careful everyone!
I am signed up to the Telephone Preference Service, And I also have this number blocked by me on my phone as a nuisance caller, But they persist in calling me, Maybe 2-3 times daily. If I made nuisance calls I am sure the law would be crawling all over me.
Tried calling my ex d number twice today, Put the phone down as soon as my bt call guardian /ansaphone cut in with no messages being left. I have blocked this number after I read all these comments being left re scam callers.
Call today 08 May 2019, Scottish accent. The old Engineers in the Area scam talk, Want to swap my connection back to BT. Told them not interested and put the phone down. BT clear have an information leak, They knew my name and mobile number. Hate all the unnecessary info suppliers gather, Should be completely encrypted.
Automated voice stated mt BT service was about to be disconnected. Given two options and took second, Through to a woman who hung up when I said I was worried by the call. Reported it to BT and advised to blacklist number - they now are calling several times a day on a similar number, Which I have again blacklisted!
I have had several calls from this number and others pretending to emanate from the Newcastle telephone area. I have BT Call Guardian and as soon as it asks the caller to leave a name the line goes dead.
Hard to tell if call was genuine - wanted to upgrade we to the Total Wi-Fi package - had a lot of detail on my account. When I asked what number he was calling from he didn't know, Got him to call me back so i could see the number. Asked for multiple security questions and that made me suspicious... Checked on here and to big a risk so hung up.
I've had calls from this number several times. The caller says they're from BT Broadband, Responding to quality issues with my broadband service. They ask to check number of broadband issues using a program already on my computer, Which shows lots (which I presume is actually normal, Where data packets fail and are resent, And you don't actually notice these failures) and then they ask to try take control of computer so can fix it. At this stage I ask if they can prove they are from BT such
