They’ve been calling daily for a couple of days.I usually ignore unknown calls. They’ll leave a voicemail if it’s important. Today I answered it and silence and they hung up. I’m going to store the number in my phone under “scam. “Then I won’t answer it.
Like Larry 3 weeks ago, I got a phone call from British gas to say an engineer in the area and they could carry out the service today which was booked for 2 weeks time. I agreed and the engineer duly arrived 30 minutes later and serviced the Boiler. I was pleased as I didn't have to wait in in a 4 hour slot for the engineer to arrive. I believe this to be a genuine number but British Gas may use it for other reasons than to book as service as it is a generic number.
British gas appear to have replaced the free call 08001070258 number with this chargeable one to take even more of their customers money when they need to contact British gas for any kind of service they're supposed to be providing.
I don’t like cold callers, he wanted to send an engineer to fit a smart meter which he said was going to be compulsory to have one. I asked his name so I could confirm, he called himself Adam. I don’t believe he was genuine so I googled the number.
Someone keeps ringing me on this number but do not give me enough time to answer it. As far as I know British Gas do not use this number. I am sure they would leave a message on my answer phone re why they were contacting me.
Called my landline at 8. 05am Sat morn, So already annoyed me, They then phoned my mobile straight after, Thinking it was legit as they had my mobile number as well I answered but there was no one there.
British Gas AGAIN about annual boiler service. I will not answer this number again because I can barely understand what the person is saying and I keep saying that I have mae an appointment to suit me and do not want it done today.
Rang my landline no message left just hung up Since phoned my mobile 4 times in 2 days. I do have a gas boiler service booked since last week & have had a text reminder so no reason to keep calling I think this is one of those scams where they appear to call from a genuine number
Have received 2 calls from this number claiming to be British Gas. Calling to arrange annual service even though I had it done almost 2 months ago. Some bizarre security breach or just very poor admin?
Said they were British Gas but only had half my postcode and no info on my current boiler. Tried to persuade me to book for a service and hung up abruptly when I said I would book online instead once I knew my work schedule.
Had phone call at 9 am - see comment below. Had second phone call from same number. Caller said they were calling from British Gas and they were cancelling next week's boiler service made several months ago. New appointment given for end of January. Have checked with British Gas on different number and original appt has indeed been cancelled and new appt registered on system. Something's not right!!!!!
Received call at 9 a. M. Nobody spoke but line remained open for a few minutes. Heard faint talking in background just before “they” terminated call. I checked the number and called it back...... British Gas saying “You were called earlier but sorry they weren't able to speak to me. Nothing urgent and no need to worry”! Hmmmmm!
Said they were ringing to change my annual service for my boiler. Said she was from British Gas.. I hadn't got an appointment. Then she asked if she had my postcode correct. It was nothing like mine! She then asked if I had a connection with another person's name who I had never heard of. Then she went. I am tempted to block it but worried in case it's a genuine mix up.
Called just after 9am with a recorded message asking if I was satisfied with the recent visit by an engineer, Wanting me to press 1 or 2 to respond. I have no services or contracts with British Gas, And I certainly hadn't called an engineer out or even had a visit by one, So very suspicious!!
0333 numbers are examples of a non-geographic phone numbers. These are numbers that are not linked to any locality within the UK. They were introduced in 2007 as an alternative to the traditional landlines that were usually assigned geographically through the use of a system of location-specific area codes. All 0333 numbers are landline numbers. However, unlike the ‘01’ or ‘02’ landline numbers, you cannot identify the area 0333 numbers are associated with
