Alarmed regarding an unknown agency calling me 'on behalf of' my credit union, I was instantly motivated to call my financial institution to verify the authenticity of such an event. After several minutes of investigating this with my financial provider's representative, they read off to me the appropriate numbers they have on file that IS authorized. The company, as stated above, is referred to as 'Transaction Review Dept.' I asked them several questions regarding their purpose and frequency regarding monitoring transactions and they replied, 'they are used by several organizations and the amount of times this might occur is dependant on the organization you are a member of and to call them for furthur details...' They were very professional and did not lead me to believe that this was a hoax. The only thing(s) they asked me to verify were the phone number in which they left a message on, my name, and a few recent transactions I had made that day on my account. In my particular case, these transactions were small amounts of less than $50. The conversation came to a friendly close. I agree with the above remarks: 'ALWAYS verify with your financial institution FIRST!' Hope this helps.
