The calls are from incarcerated inmates. The recording you hear is provided by Securus, a company you prepay by credit card to put money on a phone account. The person in prison can then call family and the money is deducted from that account. The company is legit, but I'm sure some inmates call numbers at random maybe to find someone to talk to or scam (i.e. send me money grandma).

I sent a complaint on this website a few days ago. The person using this number is constantly calling me. I let it go to voicemail but I'm still getting calls. If this does not stop, I'm contact the Attorney General in Arizona. I'M a senior citizen and this has to stop!!!If I have to supply my cell phone number in order to stop these calls, let me know. Thank you!

I do not know anyone who is in prison or jail. I don't appreciate the above person named David calling 'us' dumb. It's apparent to people who do not know anyone that's in the system that this is in fact a scam. So let's choose our word wisely sir.

When recording said a collect call from...all that I heard was static. From now on I won't answer. I blocked the number.

Received a call that an inmate was trying to contact me

I received about 3 or 4 calls from this number. The voicemail recording said it was a call from a correctional facility and to press 1 to accept the collect call from my incarcerated loved one or friend. I don't have any person known to me, family or other wise, that is incarcerated. Seems like a total scam. Why and how would an incarcerated person who doesn't know me be calling my number? Anyway, it's probably a scam.

They call sometimes 20 times in one day offering for me to deposit funds in an inmates account. I'm so tired of it. They leave messages and someday maybe I will sue them.

My son and I have been receiving this number several times during the day. We know of only one person who might be in jail, but I am not going to accept any type of calls. No one knows it could be a scam. I use to work in a prison, and know the inmates call numbers at random to take part in a scam. Inmates have accounts set up by whomever so they can make calls to their family. When I say the account is set up it is done by someone else, when they run out of money they can not longer make calls. When talking to whomever on the phone, the calls be done 3-way, so I would suggest that no one accepts any type of calls from any toll free number. Block the calls from your phone. If you think someone might be in jail, google in the Law enforcement department for the area you think it could be, and get the phone number, then ask for the jail, and then call and ask if there is a person by whatever name you think it could be in jail. It is the safest way of finding out.

Have been getting these collect calls from someone in prison. It started 2 months ago from Erie Pa. prison and has escalated to a prison in Chicago and this prison. It has to STOP!!! I want to know how these people go my cell number.

The company name is Securus. They handle calls for correctional facilities. I get these calls all the time because my good for nothing son is in jail, all the time. 28 years old, been arrested 29 times. Total loser.

This is not a fraud call. This is someone calling from a jail or prison.

I don't answer any calls that I'm not familiar with. As the posts say, this is someone from jail. I don't know how I can block calls such as these. They should be against the law. Do not call list does not work!

It's a call from family or friend. They need more money on the phone acct.

Not a spam. It's a phone service for inmates. If you answer you'll hear the inmate saying their name.You need to setup an account to be able to receive calls from the inmate.

Person calling from jail... By time I picked the phone it was an automated voice and all I could hear was it say The Caller has hung up the phone... Then the phone clicked off....

Thing is if its from a jail then why is it we all get a call from the same number. Call I received said an inmates name and wanted me to press 1 to hear a free massage.I don't know about anyone else. But every jail and prison in the USA is not going to use the same number. So there for its a scam. Because if you press 1 you acknowledge that your accepting the call. Very annoying I get about three or four calls from anywhere from 8:00am to 12pm and then they leave an automated voicemail about needing to chose an option to receive the actual voicemail. I'm tired of getting all these calls

I didn't answer, it went to voicemail. The voice mail was an automated voice saying that if I wanted to receive this call I needed to choose and option (I can't remember what the options were as I was on a hike). I don't answer calls I don't recognize. If it is important enough they will leave a voicemail.

Unwanted Harassment calls

I received two calls in one day to set up an account to receive calls from a prison inmate. If you do not have anyone in prison that you should need to speak with, you can block calls from all institutions set up with this phone number by calling the number above, choosing all options, then blocking all calls in the future. Keep getting calls for Melony. The calls are daily since 1/18 today I received 19. this needs to stop. The recording says name is Leroy and I know no one in jail. Reporting to FCC is a total waste of time.
