I have just received the same asking me to ring as missed a payment plan!?. Letter received in an official brown envelope with my full name and ni number. Looks genuine.

Received a letter claiming to be from HMRC claiming I had been overpaid by £900. Looking at the letter it’s not a bad forgery but so basic errors like not including full address on the top right hand side of the letter. Typing the number on the sheet I got to this website. Please don’t respond as it’s definitely a scam.

Number is legit. I even checked it was through 03453009300 which is the main HMRC Helpline. Its the Debt Management side of the HMRC they setup payment plans for overpayment off tax credits. Took me 2 hours to find out though !!! Try it yourself.

I received a legitimate looking letter about paying a tax credit debt. This number was included but I noticed there was no address, and it wasn't signed at the bottom. It just said officer of Revenue and customs no name. Be careful

So did I. I rang the proper HMRC number off web page and according to them the debt is real and have to pay the amount. I refused to do it and put phone down on them. So I'm lost now

I have been repaying an alleged overpayment of tax credit since 2014. I do not know if I have been scammed or not. I phoned the above number as required at the time . Please help.

This is scary as had a letter with my full name address and national insurance number on it saying it was HMRC debt management time to pay. Saying I've missed a instalment on my payment plan I don't own HMRC anything at all either.
