This a bone fide, actual HMRC phone number for old tax credits overpayments.

Ja wróciam do polski 2010 roku a teraz przysłali mi list ze mam do zwrotu 2000 f skontaktowałam się z tym numerem co miałam w liscie i rozłożyli mi na raty po pierwszej wplacie dzwoniłam do nich po miesiącu czy dostali pieniądze a oni mi na to ze nie nie wiem co mam dalej robic czy to sa oszuści jak ktoś wie cos o tym proszę o pomoc

I have received this same letter today IT IS A SCAM...... I checked this number on the REAL HMCR site it does not exist...... inform the Police .... this letter looks real but the paper is very thin cheap paper NOT the paper that HMRC use, I have had plenty of letters from them in the past so I know for sure ...

Its scam. Never give your personal details by mobile.

Scam. Rang the website number and rang the number on another phone and played it to the chap at HMRC. This number is NOT a recognised number by HMRC and has been reported.

I googled a HM Revenue & customs no and the letter with the above tel number ending 3809 received was legit. Still good advice not to give details over the phone though.

Phoned me asking same thing sounds like a big scam

I also received a voice mail on my house phone from this number, claiming to be from HMRC and I was to call them back by 8pm on Monday! My suspicion was arisen as the caller had my correct first name but completely wrong surname. They also requested I had my National Insurance number to hand when I call back. I shall not be calling back as the telephone number is not registered with HMRC.

Had the same thing Friday night, claiming to be from an HMRC related company, demanding personal information and £1500 to be repaid by Monday 8pm (yesterday). Said they posted a letter a week ago but have never received anything in the post to date and they have not yet rung back

Answering machine message. Claiming to be from HMRC. Asked to phone this number back before 8pm tomorrow with my national insurance number. Obviously a scam. Now reported to the police,which I would advise everyone to do, to help stop these people. NEVER give out personal information to a cold caller!

Phoned 8.14am on a saturday morning on my old number so didnt answer. But what normal people phone that early at a weekend

Hi, i have just had a phone call from this number. The man sounded of Scotish accent and said he was from HMRC. He knew my first name & surname. He asked me for my address, postcode & date of birth. When he found I wasn't the person he wanted to speak to but my son, he asked for me to pass on a message for my son to call back this coming Monday by 8 pm.

Phoned asking for N/I details& asking to contact by 8pm following day[they slipped up by giving wrong name]

Same-This number phoned me, early Sat morning 7th Sep, and the caller (a man) had a terribly bad accent that was very difficult to comprehend.He asked for my National Insurance Number and personal details. I didn't give him it, because I suspected it was a fraud.Perhaps, the same man is phoning everyone, here?

Scam - I got a call from this no. today, wanted personal info, but I refused. I phoned HMRC on one of the numbers from the HMRC website, and the guy I (eventually) got through to confirmed that it is not an HMRC number and there was no record on my account that anyone from HMRC had tried to contact me.

These scammers have spoofed a legit HMRC phone number which shows up on your caller display, don't be fooled though. They have tried it with me twice now. A man who sounds pak*stani called us and told us his name is Christopher Robinson and we have to pay £9,000 immediately over the phone due to overpayments of tax credit. We have never had any tax credit. Told him to 'do one'.

have just had a phone call from a women who said she was ringing from HMRC- after asking her for some form of security - she told me two digits of my NHS number, said myself and my wife owed them £6000+ and could I make a arrangement to pay it. sounds genuine. she even gave me the tax credits phone number.

called at 9 o'clock on Sunday morning ruining my lie in. who the hell do these people think they are?

Claimed he was from HMS Customs he wanted my NI number ?

This is as genuine number. I made the mistake of thinking it was a scam and they sold my debt to a collection agency which now appears on my credit report!!
