This is the Fresh Start program which is a refinancing option through Ed Financial, they're basically a scam. If you consolidate through a private loan program you lose the ability to dismiss the loans after 20 years of payments. You lose the ability to have the loans reduced if you work for the government or not for profit. Don't talk to them, don't give them any information. Block the number.

Just received a call from this number on my cell. No message left, and didn't recognize the number - glad to see that some found out it was Edfinancial Services (I have a loan, but it's in deferment!). Not happy to see they're not harassing me via phone - I get enough of their harassment via emails!

I think its a scam. They specifically asked for me. And asked about my student loan and i told them i didnt have any student loans and all they said was ok thanks and hung up. I dont think there was a mix up b/c he did ask for me.

I think it's a scam. I don't have a student loan. Haven't had one for 15 years. The first thing they wanted me to do was give out my SSN or an account #. They know I have no account #. They want an SSN. Go piss up a rope creeps.

So....they called twice and I answered the second time. The lady seemed really strange and the first thing she asked was for my birthday to “verify my account”. Why do I need to verify my account over the phone?? I immediately hung up and after a few mins, I called the number back. First thing they ask for is MY SOCIAL SECIRITY NUMBER!!! First rule of fake callers: NEVER give out you SSN and NEVER give out your credit card info and NEVER give out your date of birth.

Debra, if you had no student loan, then they probably are trying to locate someone else and somehow associated your name with theres. Kind of like googling a name and it gives you other people associated with that person. This happened to me. They were trying to locate an ex daughter-N-law of about 14 years ago. I had no idea where she was and they accepted that....never heard from them again. I could be wrong in your case ofcourse, but I thought i'd just throw that out.
