Received text from official Halifax number saying that I will receive an SMS from another number to confirm recent activity. Then received a text from this number asking about a payment, Which I had not made. Do not respond. They were also in conjunction with 0333 045 XXXX
Text from apparently from Lloyd's saying a transaction was made from my account and to call this number. Voicemail the left was an automatic voice, Have not responded as why would the call come from a mobile number?
SMS is automatically sent from this number when a credit/debit card payment is rejected by automatic fraud detection, Allowing the card user to confirm whether the rejected payment was indeed fraudulent or legitimate. Confirming the legitimacy of the payment does not authorise the rejected payment, However subsequent payments to the same recipient won't be blocked.
Recvd a text saying Halifax noticed my card (last four digits shown) used (date given) to attempt online purchases. Reply Yes or No to confirm. Alarmingly it said do not contatct your bank. I did call my bank and they confirmed there was an attempt at a fraudulent transaction. So for me, This phone number was genuine.
This, For me was genuine, Text sent warning me my debit card had been used overseas, When i checked my online banking it had. Phoned fraud line and asked about the number and it is for Lloyds, Halifax and several other banks
